about

The Sunscreen Project was born about four years ago when my brother came home from working outside with a sunburn. He was a police officer at the time and was working traffic. It was only a year or so after I was diagnosed with Melanoma and our father had it multiple times. It bothered me that he was so careless. When I pressed him about the sunburn, he said he simply didn't have any and forgot.

This got me thinking - police officers are in the sun ALOT. I wondered how many of them wore sunscreen or even had easy access to sunscreen. So, I decided that I was going to start providing sunscreen to local police departments so their officers could have a bottle of sunscreen in their patrol cars or in their lockers. I figured, if they had it available, they would be more likely to use it.

The first year, my father and I purchased enough sunscreen for each officer in two departments. The second year, I was able to provide for four departments. Each year, it seemed to double with last year being the biggest yet! I was able to deliver over 500 sunscreens to departments all over Gloucester County, NJ.

This wasn't enough for me. I want to reach more! With your help, we can make this happen!

Below, you'll find a picture of me delivering Sunscreen Packages to one Local Department in 2022.
